The Stó:lō Tourism Commission is pleased to announce that our BC150 Project, "Tl'o Tem Wiyothtset', 'It's Always Our Time' will have a Place Name Sign installation at the Tourism Chilliwack Visitor Centre. We invite you to attend the installation ceremony at 44150 Luckakuck Way, on Saturday May 23rd, at 11am. Light refreshments will be provided.
The “Lhílheqey” – Mt. Cheam Place Name Sign is one of several place name signs being installed within the Stó:lō traditional lands, and will include partnerships with many First Nation communities and partner organizations. The first sign was installed earlier this year at Tzeachten, in front of the Stó:lō Artisan Center.

“Spirit of Place”: British Columbia Young Artists Exhibition
Stó:lō Tourism Commission sponsored Sr. Artist Mentor Laura Wee-Láy-Láq to travel to Ottawa for the opening of Emily Carr University of Art & Design's “Spirit of Place” exhibit at Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean's residence at Rideau Hall, March 25, 2009. The Tzeachten First Nation sponsored pod representative Samantha Pederson. Samantha was accompanied by her mom, Sandra Bonner-Pederson of Bear Image Productions.

The 1st Annual Spirit of the People Pow Wow, July 24 – 26, 2009, Prospera Centre, Chilliwack, BC, CANADA.
The Spirit of the People Pow Wow is a drug and alcohol free event for the entire family showcasing First Nations culture in an inspiring, weekend event. Songs, regalia, dance and traditional foods will be shared allowing Sto:lo and a diversity of cultures to provide the City of Chilliwack and British Columbia an opportunity to host North America while enjoying the benefits of this great cultural tourism initiative. – Maxine Prevost
A Native Artists’ Market, and will host over 35 Native Artisan Vendors at the Indoor Aboriginal Artisans market on the concourse. This is a Public Welcome Event.
We recognize the challenging economic times, and ask you consider allocating your resources to supporting the healing way, cultural sharing and excitement of the Pow Wow.
The Prospera Centre has seating for 5,000, offering you a large market and audience to promote your business. For those who do not require promotion, but instead would like to financially support the Spirit of the People Pow Wow, we can provide Charitable Tax Receipts for your donations.
Sponsors will be recognized on event programs, promotional materials, various websites, during the Pow Wow, and as an honoured guest in the Grand Entry on Saturday at 1PM. Sponsorship levels offer various add ons that may include: access to preferred seating, space to showcase your business or organization on the concourse, and various levels of complimentary weekend passes to the Spirit of the People Pow Wow.
